This banner was the main U.S. Banner to have in excess of 13 stripes. It was deified by Francis Scott Key during the siege of Fort McHenry, Sept 13, 1814. The picture above is illustrative of the real banner that flew over Fort McHenry on that day and which is presently safeguarded in the Smithsonian Museum.
